Making the Most of the Holidays

As we hoped the summer sun continued into the May half term holiday! Our young people took full advantage of this and had a great time doing a variety of activities outdoors as well as in.

One home gave their garden shed a bright blue makeover and planted flowers... making sure the garden was ready for more fum in the sun and BBQs. We look forward to sharing the photographs!

El fresco dinning was a big hit and the BBQs were well used together with meals out at places like Nandos.

As ever the cinema and films were a firm favourite and many enjoyed watching the latest hits...some several times they enjoyed them so much!

Swimming, park visits and den building all featured in the weeks activities and the young people thoroughly enjoyed being outside.

More organised trips to Mercedes World, Woburn Safari Park and Total Ninja (Ninja Warrior Course) were enjoyed by some. Relaxation and recharging the batteries was a must for some with make-overs and face-masks on the agenda.

Our young people look forward to the holidays and their activities as rewards for their efforts during the school week. It is also a great time to develop confidence, new skills and positive relationships with the staff.

Surprise Party - celebrating 12 months with our family.

As young people arrive with us as residents at Oracle Care they are often nervous and unsure of what lies ahead. Our teams work extremely hard to help the youngsters to feel safe, valued and confident within the homes and schools to ensure that we truly build safer lives and better futures together.

Many youngsters stay with Oracle for a long period of time and milestones are celebrated in different ways - one youngster was recently surprised by a party and weekend of excitement after being with us for 12 months.

Staff and friends from the homes and school all joined together in surprising the youngster with a party in their honor. Everyone had a great time and it was followed by a trip to Water World and the fair.

It's lovely to see our young people develop over time, celebrating their milestones and achievements as part of the Oracle family.

Residential Activity

We all know that taking steps to stay away from home is a big adventure for youngsters. It's one where they battle nerves about leaving trusted safe adults and environments with the excitement of new challenges with peers.

One of our young people took this leap recently and we are delighted to say that, despite being nervous about going and unsure of how they would cope, they came back not wanting to leave the residential as they enjoyed it so much!
As one of our managers so rightly put it, it is down to the hard work and continuous efforts of the staff in helping this young person to feel safe, confident and able to build relationships in different environments that ensured they had such a fantastic time.
