I consider it a genuine privilege to be able to lead and shape a special setting, such as Esland Isaac Newton School, as I truly believe education has the power to improve lives. I have spent over 26 years in the sector and ten of those years as a headteacher. During that time I have led and developed a wide range of special provision catering for children and young people from 0-25 years.
My experience has afforded me the opportunity of working with some amazing pupils, families and professionals. I continue to learn from all of them about how to be a better leader every day! The best part of my job is that I get to play a part in the stories and journeys of pupils who have to overcome momentous challenges, by supporting and challenging them to achieve exceptional outcomes.
I am really looking forward to growing and developing Esland Isaac Newton School with an incredible staff team who are determined to realise the vision of Esland in always striving for excellence, whilst being innovative in our approach. As a professional learning community we not only value the learning of our pupils, but seek to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding of staff in how we work in partnership to perform effectively in our roles for the benefit of the pupils.
The chief aim is for us to meet the needs of our young people and prepare them for life beyond the school by ensuring they achieve qualifications and accreditations, develop skills and gain knowledge that prepares them for the next stage of their lives. We are planning for memorable experiences that will not only provide currency in terms of education, employment and training, but activities that will engage them in their learning and bring them to the realisation that learning is a lifelong pursuit.
