Positive Outcomes with Ofsted Inspections

Following a high number of Ofsted Inspections over the last few months we are delighted to say that all of our homes are rated as 'Good' or 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.

Positive comments, including those below, can be found throughout the reports:-

" Managers and staff endeavour to create a family atmosphere in the home".

"Good interactions between children and the staff were observed throughout the inspection."

"The children said that they feel safe living in the home because of the staff."

"Children spoken to were able to recognise their own improvement educationally since moving into the home".

This is the result of lots of hard work and dedication to ensuring that our young people get the best support and care from all the staff - right from head office through to the home and school staff.

We continue to strive for the best outcomes and will not wavier in our mission to ensure that we build safer lives and better futures.

We Do Care Event 2018 - Four Awards!

We are thrilled to announce that one of our young people received not one but four awards at this years Buckinghamshire We do Care Celebration Event.

At the annual event Buckinghamshire recognise the achievements of children in care and care leavers with a full day of inspirational speeches, performances and actvities to get involved in. The young people are nominated under a number of categories which include achievements within education, coping with change and many more.

Our young man was nominated by four different professionals and gained all four awards. He attended the special day with a family member and key worker and thoroughly enjoyed it. We are so proud of him and his achievements and know that his positive attitude and desire to achieve will continue throughout his life.

The awards were for volunteer work within the local senior community, sporting and extra-curricular achievements, coping with change, and positive attitude towards education and training.

His home manager said, "We are so proud of him. He is proud of them. The certificates are now framed and on his bedroom wall".

We are proud of all our young people and their achievements but it is nice to see them being recognised by others.

Relaxing times

As another week of the holiday has gone by many of our young people have had a more relaxed approach. A lot of family contact has been taking place and the youngsters have enjoyed spending time with their families - no doubt regaling in stories about the exciting things they have been up to!

Meeting up with friends has also been on the cards's nice to catch up and maintain those friendships.

Others, however have continued to be busy with trips to Alton Towers, the seaside and horse-riding.

Whether it be relaxing in and around the home, or out and about, our young people are enjoying their holidays - a few more weeks to go and a lot more fun to be had!

Kicking off the Summer!

As the holidays begin we find that our young people are certainly keeping active and enjoying their summer time.

As we continue to be lucky with the weather many of the activities have involved being outside. Youngsters are taking part in pond skimming, picnics and following nature trails around country parks which are nice to do as they are taking full advantage of the sunshine.

Other activities have revolved around sporting pursuits including tandem bike rides, badminton against the staff and multi-sports camps at local football stadiums...all of which sound very exhausting in the heat. However swimming and water has featured heavily in the first week or so, with swimming trips and lots of water fights which sound like a much needed way to cool down.

Keeping out of the heat some youngsters have been shopping, visiting castles and seeing the latest blockbusters.

One youngster has been extremely brave, managing to work on their fear of insects and spiders by visiting a zooalogical museum. Whereas another has been developing their independent skills by using local public transport to visit friends in town.

While the young people have only been on holiday for a few days they have certainly filled it full of activities and started the summer break with excitment.
